Anything to save a buck, it seems.
Apple illegally discriminated against US citizens and other US residents in its hiring and recruitment practices for certain types of positions that went to foreign workers, the US Department of Justice said yesterday. Apple agreed to pay up to $25 million in back pay and civil penalties to settle the DOJ allegations.
Apple discriminated "against US citizens and certain non-US citizens whose permission to live in and work in the United States does not expire," the agency said. The $25 million payment was called the largest ever collected by the Justice Department under the anti-discrimination provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).
25 Million is pocket change to them.
More like pocket lint to them...
The whole silicon valley is guilty of this. The entire H1-B process has been designed for this.
I believe you're right.
Apple is also among the many high-tech companies working to create the Social Credit prison for us, and of course they're big on all the DEI (DIE, really), ESG, LBGT_etc, Climate Change, and other anti-life, anti-freedom initiatives.
Embedded link in paragraph above about Apple and the Social Credit industry isn't showing up in Preview mode, so here it is by itself:

Damn few big companies aren't working against the human race right now.
Where does everyone think the "shoddy" programing come from when the "programmers" are in India and doing things via teleconferencing and the message gets lost in the translation....
Go to your OWN banking site and see how fuggily it looks and the navigation being cluegy...
So, Apple basically had to pay 25 cents. They had $76 billion on hand about 10 years ago. Probably more now. Seems like they only denied about 250 jobs. Lame.
End the work visas by law, that is the first step. All businesses must be required to show proof of their employees US citizenship. When I was rehired at a hospital in Ohio, back in 2017, I had to be fingerprinted AND show proof of citizenship via birth certificate or passport. Every worker must face the same. Any business hiring illegals or immigrants not here legally, must be fined such a high price that taking the chance makes it prohibitive. They must also lose their business license for a minimum number of years.
Fines go to show how evil and corrupt the DOJ is.
What Should happen in such cases, is that INDIVIDUALS responsible for this blatant discrimination get Jail time. So that the next piece of shit executive thinks twice about openly putting forth policy to attack Americans or specific races, which we can be pretty sure Apple is very fond of doing.
A fine 10x what they got would still be less than nothing to apple, 25m is a joke.
Now do every major tech company and Deloitte Consulting.
