You are correct, but I don't when we signed the agreement. Putin is doing exactly what any good leader would have done. In fact, I think that he's shown great restraint.
There are several treaties that cover relations between NATO nations, Russia, and the former USSR nations of eastern Europe. Minsk treaty, and Budapest treaty, are two that come to mind, because Putin has mentioned bot of those as being violated. But, there are more.
To be brief- NATO agreed to stay out of eastern Europe after the breakup of the Soviet Union, and to not militarize the former Soviet republics.
Look at eastern Europe today, and you can see that our western leaders are disgusting, and reckless fucking liars, with zlllions of dollars of western tax payer money funding the money-grubbing military industrial complex all throughout the former Soviet Union. And, in clear violation of treaty agreements.
In 1991, it was the former Secretary of State, James Baker that had promised President Gorbachev that NATO would NOT MOVE ONE INCH towards the East. Unfortunately, it was never in a signed agreement, only Baker's word. President Gorbachev had security concerns regarding NATO, it was that assurance from Baker after which the Russian President dissolved the Warsaw Pact. Of course we never kept our word which the Russians consider a very important aspect of true integrity. The Deep State had other plans and since then NATO has moved eastward by OVER 1100 MILES closer to Russian Federation territory, viewed by President Putin as a security threat. President Putin knew that Ukraine was next, being that the DS/NATO wanted to shut down the huge Russian Naval base on Crimea which would have exposed Russian waters to NATO hostilities. That's the short of it.
Führer Merkle also recently revealed that The Western powers used the Minsk Agreements as a tool to limit Russia while The West beefed up Ukraine to the level where Ukraine would be used as a weapon against Russia.
The West never intended to honour it's part of the deal as per usual Operating Practice, Their wealth and power are ALL built on deceit.

Agreed. Showing far more restraint that we have. The retreating Iraqis on the road during the first Gulf War comes to mind.
Minsk accord
Thanks
