Note: His house was just doors away from the mansion the Obama's bought in the Kalorama area of DC.
Currently he has collected from 40 different artists in some depth, with his top five being Marina Abramovic, Vik Muniz, Bourgeois, Olafur Eliasson and Antony Gormley.
The day we met he was dashing home from a Hillary Clinton fundraiser and preparing for an early-morning flight to his vacation home in Venice the following day. Not to mention the rapid-fire nature of his work as founder and chairman of The Podesta Group, whose client roster includes such high profile names as Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Wal-Mart, Wells Fargo and Lockheed Martin.
He regularly opens his house to casual pizza parties co-hosted by his friend James Alefantis, the owner of Comet Ping Pong. Over 200 pies emerge from the outdoor pizza oven as guests wander through the house and garden while studying his art collection.
Well, I mean... There's no accounting for taste. One man's shitty art is another's treasure.
And if I had a million dollars to burn on art, I'd probably set up a gallery of MAGA art and memes, and let the public come view it for free!
But if you're proud of the art you make and/or collect, don't you want to display it? Not, you know, hide it in a basement where it can't see the light of day... That seems more like something you'd do if you're a fence buying stolen art or illicit antiquities, or you're worried about getting busted for child pornography.
I'll make an exception for American Civil War and WWII/NAZI memorabilia, because I think there is a legitimate historical reason to trade in such collections, while many members of the general public think you should be ashamed for doing so. In such a scenario, keeping one's pieces under lock and key in a basement (or even secret) gallery makes sense. Same with those who collect firearms. The difference between a collector and a domestic terrorist who is stockpiling is a simple phone call to ATF from an unhinged liberal.
You speak as if you have not seen Podesta's art collection. https://pizzapartyshutdown.wordpress.com/2017/01/27/tony-podesta-and-his-taste-in-artwork/
I've spent many years in the art world. Podesta's art is not a matter of perception, it's a matter pedos acting like pedos.
Thanks, now I need eye bleach.
Now you're getting it.
Definitely, no one has an art collection like that unless they’re a pedophile. Sickening.
