The high cost of batteries (1) increases the initial cost of the EV, (2) increases the cost of insurance, (3) increases the depreciation of the car"s value and makes a used EV worth a lot less. Triple bonus from a car that requires 500,000 pounds of earth and rock to be mined to furnish the materials needed for the battery -- what a bargain.
It is a bargain all right. Good thing we have kids in Africa tearing up the land for the batteries instead of the land in the USA being torn up by industrial strength equipment.

Just get a second mortgage at 9% interest to pay for the ev repairs. It's for the greater good.
Then don't forget to get that third, fourth, fifth, Sixth, and seventh job just to pay off the mortgage interest.

The battery only had a 1 year warranty. They aren't cheap.
