Do you just eat it? Been wanting to try some ivermectin after I got sick a few years back and haven’t been the same since
Don't just eat it. It gets all over your teeth and tongue... big regrets.
Take the syringe and squeeze 6 small dose lines onto wax paper or a plastic plate. Put it in the freezer for an hour to freeze, then store the frozen ivermectin doses in a baggie in freezer.
When needed, take one and swallow it. Easy, no taste, no mess.
Another way is get a small bag of bite size Reese Peanut Butter Cups. Inject a dose of ivermectin into each. When needed, just pop one into your mouth, few bites and swallow. No bad taste, no issues. Also works with chocolate covered cherries.
Good idea, thanks
I just got some. If you get it for your horse, you just turn the dial on the dispenser to the horses weight (each click is for 50lbs) and then dispense it into the horses mouth.
Very much appreciated
Each notch on the syringe is 50 lbs. You don't want to underdose. I get the apple flavored. Its a thick gel that dispenses like toothpaste. You do not, I repeat, you do not want this swishing or squishing around in your mouth. You want to swallow it, not eat it. Its bitter still and a texture that will stick to ur teeth and end up being a much longer ordeal than necessary.
I dispense onto the end of a butter knife, it's about the size and shape of a capsule. I place it on the back of my tongue, where you try to get pills to land when you tilt your back taking them. Again, try not to spread it around, and the drink will wash it down whole, like a capsule. Very little taste, doesn't coat your mouth. Have fun! Editing to add, have a chaser handy!
I put mine in flavored yogurt which help to mask the bitter taste.
I have the apple one as well and have taken it several times. Yes, very bitter. I now take it exactly as you described, placing it on back of tongue and gulping it down with water, typically followed by a little peanut butter or something to mask any remnants of the extremely bitter taste.
And no, you cannot hide it or bury it in food. Its mild apple strong bitter taste will take over.
I put it on my Omolene for breakfast.
This is great advice. However, even after taking two tubes of this over the past six months, I have to admit...it doesn't taste THAT bad going down and I have never minded it. Perhaps there's a little bit of equine in me... ;)
Reynoldmeds.com sells pill version. Cheapest is to buy the 12 mg and use a pill splitter if you need 6 or 18 mg (instead of taking one or three 6 mg pills). We had a doctor prescribe the correct dosage for each of us.
measure the dose (apple flavor) onto a tablespoon, add a dollop of honey and take it. Tasty!
