Just for context, Brawley is a mostly agricultural area between San Diego and Yuma, and is situated near the Mexican border. Military exercises are frequently conducted in that area.
I didn’t think military conducted “raids” or other engagements with those huge packs on their backs? Doesn’t make for easy running or any other maneuvers.
When something like this happens, quickly check the NOTAMs. If there is nothing, then it is not an exercise. I don’t know how long NOTAMs are archived for.
