Romans 12:19-21 ESV
[19] Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” [20] To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” [21] Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
I had some enemies do some messed up things to me. Kept my cool but kinda resentful that they got away with what they did without any repercussions. Then COVID hit and they all took the shot ... God's vengeance is absolutely terrifying and implacable. Stay humble frens, and strive to forgive and have charity for others, even your enemies. I would never want even my worst enemy to fall under the vengeance of God but desire their conversion and salvation.
God is omniscient (all-knowing), omnipotent (all-powerful), and omnipresent (in all places). He sees the full picture including what's in the hearts and minds of men, and He delights in justice.
Vengeance is God's, because only God is capable of dishing it out fairly.
I love Barnhardt!! Ebeneezer being a very Jewish name, as was that of his partner Jacob (Marley). This is a fascinating undercurrent that would not have been lost on his audience of the place and time.
Over 20 years ago I went to see "A Christmas Carol" on stage. The lead, Scrooge, was played by an actor who was in a bunch of movies. They gave his credits before the play. It was funny. He was killed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Clint Eastwood, Bruce Willis, and so on. Small roles, never seemed to make it to the end. He was literally killed by everybody who killed people in their movies. I really enjoyed the evening. Ended up marrying the girl I was with.

NOTICE anything peculiar about his facial features?
Good theme for 2024 (pray for your enemies).

Damn…. You dropped the Hard J
Don't forget about Imprecatory Prayer. That is the best we can do for God's enemies.

Ambiguous syntax. You married the girl or the actor married the girl? :D
