Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I’m dying laughing at this stupid post on Instagram. For those that don’t want to click on the link the text is below. I get on instagram for food recipes and when I want to shut reality out for a bit. This guy just looks at the camera and away but he has the funniest content.
can't stop thinking about people that first ate mushrooms they found and just had to go through trial and error of like, this one tastes like beef, this one killed Brian immediately and this one makes you see God for a week
People that first ate mushrooms
I have actually thought about this many times and have silently thanked many times all our ancestors who died while experimenting with food, and in the process teaching us what not to eat!
I know. Who could look at a lobster and say, that looks tasty!?
Oh boy, you've ;gone and done it no, PS. You've gone and revealed yourself a southerner.
Well I guess if you are starving you will try anything once. I love just about anything from the sea but won’t eat sushi. It’s probably safe it’s just in my head.
If it's fear of it being raw, you can get the cooked kind. You can get tempura sushi and other cooked versions. Someone sold me it's the sashimi (spelling?) that is the raw stuff and sushi is cooked. I'm not sure if that's correct, but I do know you don't have to eat it raw, there are cooked versions.
lol yeah!
I haven’t thought of mushrooms specifically. I don’t know why recently I was thinking about American Indians, native American’s, I never know what’s the best name. This could apply to all of early civilizations. How the heck did they know what plants were healing and what were deadly? Supposedly the first peoples ate only animals and if they couldn’t find any they ate plants. I don’t know this as fact. It’s just what many people say when discussing carnivore diet. Either way it had to be process of elimination. We learn by figuring out our mistakes.
btw, I have recently discovered that scriptures contain tons of information about plants and their medicinal use and what kind of food is good for what kind of issues. I am specifically talking about Ayurveda, but I hear that other civilizations have similar kinds of compilations.
With Ayurveda, it is written that the guy who wrote it got the info from the Gods. Perhaps early humans did get a list of food to eat and not eat, and Brian didnt really die from mushrooms, who knows!
I’ve dabbled with Ayurveda medicine for several years. I order from Banyan Botanicals occasionally. I just made an extremely too long post on my carnivore experiences. I failed to mention that’s one reason I’m changing my mind. I hadn’t researched as well as I thought. They recommend beef, eggs, butter, bacon and basically anything from an animal. No plants, herbs or anything not even spices. Because plants can be toxic. My first thought was what do you think these animals are eating? Second I’m not giving up herbal tea and medicine. Plus this girl will have tomatoes, watermelon and strawberries in season. I highly doubt there’s any place on earth that’s doesn’t have toxins in the soil or air. Humans have destroyed our planet and no amount of environmentalists or climate change can ever reverse that. God is the only way and the Bible says he will destroy Earth and build it new, “build back better”🤣
It makes sense the early people knew what to eat. After all God told them not to eat the apple (or from the tree) we assume it was an apple.
Poor Brian and the mushroom. Hope he had a damn good trip before he went.
How is the carnivore going for you?
Check out my post in gen chat made in the last hour. I love a dang good hamburger, steak and eggs but every day isn’t for me. I don’t even like leftovers. I really wanted to try because so many people said they don’t have chronic conditions after being on it. Secondly to lose weight. If I lose weight my pain should get better.
