Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I know. Who could look at a lobster and say, that looks tasty!?
Oh boy, you've ;gone and done it no, PS. You've gone and revealed yourself a southerner.
I was referring to the 'it's been a minute' comment, lol. But thanks for that tip! I never would have known that.
Well I guess if you are starving you will try anything once. I love just about anything from the sea but won’t eat sushi. It’s probably safe it’s just in my head.
If it's fear of it being raw, you can get the cooked kind. You can get tempura sushi and other cooked versions. Someone sold me it's the sashimi (spelling?) that is the raw stuff and sushi is cooked. I'm not sure if that's correct, but I do know you don't have to eat it raw, there are cooked versions.
At first it was fear but it just doesn’t look appetizing. Also I am not a big fan of rice unless it has gravy 😀 If I want fish I eat it fried the old fashioned way in cornmeal. Otherwise I like my seafood grilled or cooked in butter.
I’m not concerned about parasites you can those anywhere. Just the thought of raw food makes me sick. Especially if you trust restaurants and fast food. Heck buying fresh produce in the grocery store is a risk. Greens, herbs etc don’t need to be wet yet they spray them all day. I know it’s to keep them from drying out. I wash everything in vinegar. During Christmas cooking I asked my husband to buy me scallions (green onions). He brought home soggy wet mush with about two inches of firm onion. I threw it out. He didn’t know poor guy he’s a trooper. One time for my daughter’s 16th bday party I sent him to the store for avocados. I accidentally wrote guacamole on the list and described what 🥑 looked like. Poor guy is searching the entire produce section and finally ask someone😝
lol yeah!
Sea urchins. Yikes. Lol
