It is planned even down to the local school district. My school district doesn't even allow for discussion of writing in cursive. That has been taken out of the classroom and replaced with.......laptop computers. Plus, I've asked kids if they can even read cursive writing and to a person they said, NO. It's not just in the poor school districts, it in the wealthy districts as well. The kids are purposefully taught down. There is no excitement in schools. Only a pervasive idiology of "do what you are told, stay in your lane, and maybe one day you will be on 'You can be a Star'."
Our children are walking idiots thanks to the powers to be. It has been planned for a long time and is currently coming to fruition. Thank, Uncle Joe!
My sons step kids aren't taught cursive writing either. I told him they need to teach them at home then and he said they were. Also told him they should homeschool them, but both adults work (though she is more part time at the moment), and his wife & the kids father do that stupid 1 week on - 1 week off bs.
My Russian teacher pushed me to learn Russian cursive because he said it is required for the national exam needed for university or employment. I found a children's book for learning it, and 2 weeks later I was doing my homework in cursive.
I'm sad my own country is removing English cursive from the schools.

Dang - I wish I read far enough down the page to see your comment before I sent this comment to someone else - it fits perfectly.
No Children Still Write In Cursive. Yet another NCSWIC.
