That's like saying both the oppressed and oppressor are wrong. Both the rape victim and the rapist are wrong. Both the occupied and occupier are wrong. Both the Palestinians (natives to the land) and the Israelis (mostly non-natives) are wrong. No, just no.
If that's how you see it, then I would agree with you. But I think the situation is better analogized as "a rape victim turning around and raping someone else" both rapists are in the wrong. Yes you can point to individual grievances where a single party is in the wrong, but I'm talking about the entire situation in totality.
And there are millions of Israelis that don't have a drop of blood on their hands either. What's your point?
We're talking about groups here, you can appeal to individuals all day and find exceptions everywhere. I'm not saying those individuals are in the wrong. I'm talking about groups.
Fundamentally I'm saying this conflict should not be happening, and a diplomatic solution should be found. There is a small minority on both sides that are the evil perpetrators and are in power, and you can empathize with either side, but everything that is happening right now is wrong.
I get the whole "well what are they supposed to do? just take it?" and that works on both sides. The evil needs to be rooted out period. You seem to think that it's all on one side, I just think it's on both sides.
That relies entirely on the premise that one of these two are the victim. I think, what u/magaphraust is trying to say is that both sides are oppressors and this is purely a race of propaganda to see who can make the other side look worse in order to gain sympathy which then turns to support. Ultimately resulting in more division, which oddly enough, seems to be what is happening in these comments right now. Anon’s aren’t the enemy here. Sharing information to shine a light on the truth is what we’re all here for.
