I am sure sorcery/pharmakeia is not referring to herbal stuff. In Exodus the Hebrews are commanded a number of times to use the art of the apothecary.
Exodus 30:25 "And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil."
Also 1 Timothy 4:4 "For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude."
