Funny how the main argument for the monarchy that I see is “muh tourism”
Because apparently people come to see places like Buckingham Palace because they’re actually occupied by royals, not just remnants of a bygone era. If I were to go see it, that would be cool to think about, but not a determining factor. They could probably open up more properties for tourism if the monarchy was abolished.
This the same thing I have been telling my sister all these years. America aka USA has so much to offer and to see. One of the examples is Mount Rushmore, how about the Adirondacks? I lived in upstate NY it is beautiful.
I’m 100% ethnically Northern European, my earliest ancestors originated in Scandinavia. But last year I spent over half a month in Japan because I wanted to.
Funny enough I visited the Kerama Islands where the US began the invasion of the home islands, which my great grandfather was a part of. So I guess you can call that a connection, but it’s not why I went (and I didn’t know this until after the fact).
There's only two reasons I'd go to France. One, to pay homage to our fallen, of both wars, buried at Normandy and the 10 other US cemetaries. Second, to find de Gaulle's grave and relieve myself.

I have zero desire to travel through Europe and see what is there.
Far too many things to see in the US for me to want to see stuff that I have zero connection to.

I happen to be American Indian with a BIA roll number, so I doubt that.

Why do you need a connection to go see something?

I'd like to see the catacombs under Westminster Abbey someday. That's it for London, I think.
