Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Do you know if NAC can help thin mucus? Besides the amount, my problem has been the thick consistency of it. Instead of it being thin like the consistency of oil, it's more akin to goop of some kind. I take generic muscinex, and it helps, but not enough.
The problem seems to be seasonal and connected with certain allergens like ragweed and mold and tends to spike after a front blows in.
Try flushing your sinus out daily, morning and night, with the NeilMed sinus rinse squirt bottle. Has made a great difference in my allergies. Discovered I had to take a shower every single night after being outside, or the allergens would get on my bed covers. Even if I had already taken a shower mid-day. The allergens did not come off my hair with only water, had to use shampoo to get them out.
Also, for some reason, after I started taking ivermectin sporadically, my winter allergies have greatly subsided, didn't even have to take Allegra-D last winter or this, first time in over 12-15 years.
How often do you take ivermectin and have you found an inexpensive source for the regular pills?
Being able to take the human type medicine would be preferred if it's not too expensive, though I have taken the horse paste quite a few times in the past. I'm just not fond of the flavor ... But then again, who is besides horses?
I've been taking the horse paste about once a month. I don't like the flavor but I have found a way to make it work. I squirt my dose out on a small piece of plastic wrap. Make me half of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Use my finger to wipe my dose on the back of my tongue then immediately take a bite of my sandwich. The peanut butter and jelly match the consistency so well, I never even notice I've taken it. I've never taken the pills so I don't know any sources for that.
drink drink drink water, steam, boil a pot of water and take a towel and cover your head while breathing steam, but really hydrate too.
Not always the best at it, but I do try to stay hydrated.
I've lived with the issue of overly thick phlegm most of my life, but after being in environments with mold and absurd amounts of aerial spraying (as well as stress), my lungs took a bit of a hit and it has gotten worse.
I've just ordered some colloidal silver and some nasal spray bottles so I can hopefully cut down on the inflammation and encourage natural healing.
