Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Farmer exposes the mainstream lies surrounding livestock emissions... Cows play an integral part of the environment and ecosystem, rather than producing and emitting new carbon, they recycle it.
Farmer explains how grazing improves the soil and air
That's not doing what he thinks it's doing.
A solar panel provides power/electricity. His cows are grazing grass, great, but all that's getting improved there is that grass field and the cows belly. If cows graze grass they also need protein feed provided.
It's like he saw a meme about cow farts and then just talked out of his own ass for 10 minutes. Almost everything he said is wrong.
And please, I cook more steak than anyone I know, I'm not some veggie idiot trying to say cows are murder or bad for the environment or whatever, but this dude is just wrong.
I get my beef shipped , frozen, 100% grass fed, no grain at all for finishing. The grasses themselves get turned into protein, the bacteria in their gut as they feed and ruminate is all they need. The only time they need extra protein is if they are being milked all the time, to help keep the milk production up.
But this guy is saying the grass provides power to people, that is not the case, I don't care what it has to do with protein, it's not keeping the lights on.
I know the guys we buy our beef from, they do not supplement feed, nor inject with anything, now they're not even "finishing" with corn. Black Angus, pasture all the way. Hay that they grow to over-winter. What is this protein feed you speak of? I'd like to ask at the butcher shop now.
So you think, 90% of those farms are run by corporations and they just lie.
That's an odd thing to say, I'm simply asking what is this protein feed supplement you say must be used on cows. I have never heard of cows eating meat or protein, unlike chickens or pigs. As far as corporations lying, well, you tell me.
What is wrong with what he said? I’m confused.
Thanks for setting me straight. I was gullible and didn’t research before posting. There’s so much information available and most of it’s wrong. I didn’t think you were taking the vegan side. I’ve carnivore almost two months. I’ve seen so many videos of vegetarians going carnivore and fixing multiple health problems they have had for years.
