Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Yeah, I said it a week or two ago.
I saw the spiral. They called it an ouroboros.
I know what the fucking ouroboros is. That wasn't it.
Now that I think about it, maybe God is sending me into the room just so I could be there at the perfect time to catch these scenes...
I’m a sucker for some syfy but most of syfy is too crazy for me. I don’t do aliens. I can see the issue with this type of “programming” for most of the population. I have always taken it as entertainment and not truth. Since the internet came along I research after watching historical dramas. I know they change facts for entertainment. Sadly most don’t. I watch historical because I enjoy seeing how people lived in different times. I’m always watching good history documentaries by regular people not history channel. Back to syfy. I believe some shows especially Armageddon type syfy has some truth. We don’t know what the devil worship crowd is capable of. Honestly I don’t want to know. Think of all the time travel shows and novels and it’s very popular. I watch outlander not for time travel it’s a great story about an independent strong woman love story with a real man that loves her unconditionally. Also about Scotland highlanders before and after Colloden (spelling?), war with England that defeated Scotland. Now they are America and revolutionary war is starting. There is one truth in La Brea, humans were on earth at the same time as dinosaurs. We have been lied to about that for decades maybe a century. Check out Answers in Genesis on YouTube. They explain this with the scripture to back it. Dragons were real, not fire breathing but just big flying dinosaurs. They talk about this also and explain the word used at the time of genesis for dragons. They have interesting videos explaining so much about the lies from the early scientists, like Darwin.
I can't watch a lot of these new shows past the first 2 episodes, they are not that good, period. Same old stories rewritten. I am not as bothered by the woke stuff as much as others are, I guess. I am not concerned with being brainwashed, it has not happened yet, I have been aware of media manipulation since the 70's. I havn't found a series to pull me in for awhile, I think the last one I liked was Banshee, on HBO. Oh, maybe it was The Gilded Age, and I watched that because of the over the top costumes and designs. I am a sucker for musicals, the old timey ones, as a kid my Mother would stack the stereo with all the musicals, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Showboat, Carousal, My Fair Lady. I think I knew all the words to those songs since I was 12, and now that I am old, I sing them while doing housework. I love the big song and dance numbers and will watch them on Youtube. Particularly "Step In TIme", the chimney sweeps number in Mary Poppins. They make me smile. I suppose I could read all kinds of things into them, but I don't. I take them for what they are, amazing productions with great sets and costumes and catchy tunes. Not so much the modern musicals. I had wanted to be a dancer when I was a kid, old fashioned musical dance numbers, not the soft porn that is in dance nowadays.
