What is your take on foreigners in the past who have joined the US the military to become US citizens? In the past I took in some Marines from Camp LaJeune for Thanksgiving Day dinners for several years until the program ended. There were some who ate dinner in our home who had joined from other countries just to become American citizens. They seemed to be ok but I only saw and talked with them for a short time.
I think there’s a big difference between “foreigners in the past” and the current, illegal, invaders. The marines you’re referring to, although I may be wrong, came here “legally”, and that is a significant factor.
Better vetting process, intrinsic need of soldiers, and America was a country that both demanded and inspired loyalty -- we didn't have to worry about most people, because this was the land of opportunity, of plenty, of equality, of freedom to be who we are. Freedom to learn, freedom to improve, freedom to excel.
This isn't that country anymore. They know it, we know it, the people pushing for this know it.
Well I certainly don’t want these illegal aliens granted access to our military. I did not serve myself. But I don’t trust them if they already broke our laws to come here
Totally different. The Army had TWO paths actually for that. MAVNI (i forget what that stands for), and traditional. TRADs (yep, thats what we called them) had to have high scores on the entrance test, zero legal or medical issues, AND had to have a ‘green card’ (INS-155 i think). They were NOT, and I repeat NOT illegals. Not at all.
MAVNI had to have a super special skill, hard as fuk to come by. That is where we got a ton of interpreters. We have also got a shit ton of doctors that way.

But we can be again.
Very well stated. You are spot on.
