It dont sound right to me. Kinda defeats the point of the appeal if you have to pay anywaus then basically make the state give a half billion refund after
NY is a lousy financial bet. They are beyond broke. But I have never heard of paying a bond to be able to appeal a decision. NY has gone full blown nazi dictatorship.
They are used across the country.
This is not a NY thing .
You can find your state rules here.

Thank you. Honestly didn't think this through in terms a plaintive who has an honest case against an insurance company or a large corporation. A bond makes sense if there's a victim. In this particular case Trump is the victim and this is a ny pile-on.
Has anyone determined who gets the money?
10% for the big guy
Illegal immigrants, most likely.
I think it goes to NY state.
I know there is a fund for victims of crime, but I don't know if civil judgements go into that
This was a provision written directly into this NY 'get Trump' law.
That's not true, it's been on the books in New York since the 60s
The law the case was tried under passed 67 years ago. When Trump was 10.
It's separate from the rules on appeals.
