there was a story on the news in eastern iowa when I was a kid about a bunch of birds that got hammered on some berries (I think it was berries, though that doesn't sound quite right, berries typically grow on bushes or vines...0that were growing on a fruit tree of some sort and flew into a storefront, taking out the whole window (we're talking an entire flock of birds just crashed into the window)
Turns out the berries were out of season and had fermented, so the city basically had to wrap the tree in tarps to keep the birds away from them.
Can confirm,
Have family in the midwest and I think it's a Hawthorne tree? The birds would flock to this tree, eat the berries and some would act like they were drunk. Doesn't happen all the time. I was in town a few years ago and had to cut most of it down after a storm.
I remember seeing the footage and being blown away, because the entire front window was blasted inward like a bomb hit it. Not cracked, not a tiny hole, just gone and in pieces on the ground...
I am in a “conspiracy” group and someone posted about 12 dead crows in a road. Weren’t there one minute, the next they were. I wonder if they berried themselves to death???
"we need to make anti-bird glass..."
Was this glass pro-bird?

Typical drunk birds, ruining everything.
Very disrespectful.
Shitbirds randy
This happens to honey bees too. When you see them moving slowly on the ground, they could just be drunk.
well, at least they have the sense to stay grounded, lmao

ah, that makes sense.

Happens on the regular with mulberry trees. The birds become easy prey for cats when they can barely fly.
I’m sure most any other fruit without a waterproof skin is a possibility for this, as well.

Haha this made me chuckle 🤣
