I pretty much watched just parts of Dune 1 while my husband was watching it, so didn't really get a good grasp on the movie. He wanted to go see the 2nd one, so we went to see it this past weekend. It was a long movie.
There were a few times that we would look at each other like, WTH? Like when all the Fremen (sand people) were all non-white and prayed like Muslims, and seemed to me that they portrayed all the white groups that were after the spice like evil people. They had Baron Harkonnen (that weird evil uncle dude) that kissed his nephew, Feyd-Rautha (weird evil nephew- and why does his name remind me of Roth?) full on the mouth.
The witch Reverend Mother Mohiam, at the end said something like ... "Now starts the Holy War", as the Fremen were pretty much destroying the other groups.
And what is with the blue worm juice?
I guess I can be reading this movie all wrong being I have never read the books on it or completely watched the first one.
When I searched GAW for Dune 2, this post came up from about 6 months ago, so I thought I'd share it because the op (SuqamisLostPassport) thought the movie had coms.
Dune Part 2 Comms

Here's the trailer for the movie... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15239678/
I saw the movie (both part 1 & 2). I also saw the original David Lynch version back in the early 1980’s and the miniseries staring William Hurt. I have also read all Frank Herbert’s books in the series. This latest movie was infested with Hollyweird PC crap but I didn’t necessarily see any comms.
I didn't either, I only asked that because I didn't see any and because the other person who posted about it 6 months ago thought there would be.
That's what I thought also, but wanted to see if other's saw it also or was it just me over thinking it.
Dune was comms about Oil backed fiat USD world order. The desert planet is the middle east. The spice represents is Oil the life blood of the economy but also represents AC - which represents the lifeblood of the Cabal structure. To play with one, you need the other. The blue eyes from consuming spice has been theorized as all the tell tale signs of being an AC user.
The whole story is about controlling the spice/Oil and the political intrigues behind it. The book was originally written in 1965 and the Oil war started in 71 and by 73 the entire planet was moved into the fiat USD backed by Oil with artificial supply shortage, exactly as the allegory of the Dune.
Just like in the book, anything and everything must be done to take control of this system. I suspect there was some WH comms as well.
There was an amazing post on 4chan once about how Frank Herbert had told a friend that the entire story of Dune was told to him in his dream by some entities or something like. Trying to search for it, bit can't seem to find it now.
There's a good interview from 1965 where he goes into great detail about his inspiration for the story.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-mLVVJkH7I
First: Did you read the book: Dune by Frank Herbert?
if not, please do. This will answer some of your questions in relation to the fremen.
The issue is, that exploiting the religious sensibilities (delusions) of people makes them easily manipulated and can be easily turned into strong fighter.
That is why you see in totalitarian regimes the need for indoctrination and the creation of special units.
Another interesting idea the Frank Herbert intertwined in his story, is the manipulation of the great houses by forcing upon those Houses women trained by them. This is infiltration and DNA manipulation, and even cultural appropriation.
So, if it worries you, then ask yourself why? There are many ways to commit genocide. If you can' t get them out, bread them out is one such item. ( prima nocte). On the other hand, it also shows you that for commerce to commence, spice is the nuclear item. Power is dependent on and wishes to control this substance.
What in our world is the nuclear item that power wants to control? Money? What does money represent?
The book is very interesting to read, as it contains many layers, like real life. I highly recommend it, as you interact with your own visuals based on your comprehension instead of those by Hollywood.
As for the movie itself: it is shit. Acting is bad, and it left me wondering what this second installment was all about. As always, woke culture is ideological. And that is always bad. Dune (2000) is better, but the best remains: Dune (1984).
