Maybe a local gun range has someone that can teach you. In my area most people have guns and hunt, not sure about other areas. Also gun stores or hunting stores that sell guns might have a suggestion. Retired military and police officers usually teach the concealed carry in my area. Learn gun safety. I need to take a concealed carry class but keep putting it off. I just told my husband I needed to practice shooting. I know how to shoot a gun but am not skilled because I have done it a lot. I can’t pull back on the Glock so he’s trying to find a gun for my strength level. He & my daughter are great shots. She’s 31 and has been hunting since she was 15. He says she’s a better shot than any man he knows.
Thank you....seriously, this is information I need.
Get a Glock 19 (or Smith and Wesson M&P if you have actual taste in grip feel).
Take courses with teachers like Modern Samurai Project, Baer Solutions, SOB Tactical, Warrior Poet, Craig Douglas, etc.
Spend money on more ammo, and train weekly.
Dry fire helps, and drawing from holster helps more.
Teach your family gun safety, gun proficiency, and what to do in case your home is attacked.
Become competent in your gun handling, and confident in your marksman.
Thank you. I will search for those resources in my area.
Try this if you haven't.
Make sure your dominant is as high on the lower as you can get it. Right up underneath the slide and still comfortable and out of the way.
Grab the slide with your offhand.
Whilst pulling back on the slide with your off hand, press forward on the lower receiver with a hard and quick motion.
Doing this allows for half of the work to be done by your off hand as opposed to keeping the gun stationary and pulling back.
Thanks 😊 Now I get your username. I was practicing with a loaded gun for a while. I need to get back to it. This year we have been distracted with new grand baby. Time to on it again.
You're very welcome! Also to note since you mentioned that, a fully loaded magazine will have the most pressure on the bottom of the slide since the bullet will be pushing up against it and will have little give for the spring in the magazine is fully compressed.
This can be a challenge for anyone and even me with sweaty hands or on a new gun.
So here's some more tips.
Try cycling the gun empty. No mag, cleared and safe. And rack the slide over and over again and just "play" with it. You will break the spring in and it will overtime become easier.
Try removing a round or more as you work towards your goal. No shame in it at all. Think about this way, if you carry 15 in the mag you can remove 9 before you have a 6 shooter and Wyatt did just fine. ;) God bless you. And God bless your Children and their children.
Revolvers are best/ very good.
My dad couldn't pull the slide on his auto's so he switch to revolvers. I belive they are much safer and easier to shoot, for casual shooters.
We have several types of pistols, a few revolvers. Hopefully we can shoot today or Sunday, rain tomorrow. He’s set up a target wall for shooting. Living in the county is a bonus because we can shoot with the neighbors calling the cops.
Try a Smith &Wesson M&P Shield. Nice light powerful gun. My husband got one for himself but it's easier than the glock for my hands so that's what I use
