The 10 commandments are no longer obligatory?
9 of the 10 are stated in the NT but sabbath is not. There is several types of sabbath stated in the Bible. the sabbath we talk about was specifically for the Israelites. The one Jesus talked about is God's sabbath. We are part of God's sabbath not the Israelites.
Also, have you ever sinned, ever told a lie, ever stole even something tiny? Ever filled with anger over someone? Ever looked at a woman lustfully? These are all part of the 10 commandments. If you do any of these, you have broken the law, and you must pay the fine which is eternal death.
You are so focused on these things you are commanded to do but don't know why they were there in the first place or who they were for or why. Jesus, paid your fine, and you are now legally allowed to live. All you do is trust in christ, believe in him. If you trust him, and have faith in him, you will naturally try and emulate him and do good works. But works and following commands is not how you earn your way to heaven. You have already been granted entry. Not because you deserve it, but because God is good. Jesus died for you so you will have eternal life. This is the good news. It truely is Good news. Just trust in God, let Jesus christ be your guide and walk with him the best you can. Call upon him for help when you stumble. That's all. The truth is written on your heart remember? You already know him. He already knows you. But now, grow your relationship with him. Learn all you can. Talk to him.
Doesn't Paul explicitly state in Hebrews 4:
God does not rest from work on any day, he rested on the 7th day not every 7th day
I don’t see how this correlates.
I thought Sunday was observed as the sabbath because that's the day Christ rose from the grave, the 1st or 8th day of the week after 'resting' in the grave on the 7th day. 8 being the number of completion. My headcannon says this is why we have 2 day weekends. Saturday as the true sabbath, and Sunday in observance of Christ's resurrection. Just my 2 cents worth
