Im ok with tipping. But there needs to be a solid thick line. This tipping shit has gotten out of hand and down right annoying. I should not have an option to give a tip to the register lady for ringing me up.
Tipping should be entirely optional. No mandatory gratuity of any kind, and no expectations of getting tips freely either.
The people who get the best tips are very good at reading people and watching their tables anyway, which requires work and effort. That should be rewarded, and the reward is devalued when everyone expects it for the minimum.
I agree. Tipping should be service quality based, do better, get more. Do little, get little. There should not be a dumby math tip guide at the bottom of receipts, or an option to tip when u buy a cookie at the counter.
To add, service quality does not mean take an order and bring it out. For that i can go to the window and get it myself.
I think get rid of tipping altogether and charge what you need to keep employees. The government should not be setting wages.
