I'm not sure why Trump is talking like this. He was certainly courting RFK Jr. for VP, and now he is saying these things. Maybe I'm missing something. Does anybody have a better take on this?
By mentioning RFK Jr, he is keeping him in the news cycle to further fracture democrats, driving more voters (those who are diehard Democrats and wouldn't vote Trump regardless) away from Biden to Kennedy. If he never mentioned Kennedy, the democrats would bury him and pretend he doesn't exist. This way Trump saps traditional democrat support away from Joe, giving Trump a bigger victory margin.
Campaigning in 2016, Trump told RFK Jr and the world he would appoint RFK Jr to be his vaccine czar then renegged. Bill Gates takes credit for making that happen.
I remember that and was so disappointed when I heard that. Bill Gates swooped in and disabused him of using RFK Jr., and then (allegedly) donated $1million to Trump's campaign. I never understood that, as Trump prided himself on not taking anyone's money in the primary.
There have been arguments back and forth on this, but your statement may be correct. Trump also has said things that don't make sense like saying that "Bill Barr was a nice man" and that "Hillary was a nice woman and I didn't want to prosecute her."
It is such a contradiction for him to make these statements. Maybe there is a lot more to the story that we just don't know. I hope someone can explain it to me.
He hasn't been conned. President Trump is very deliberate with all his moves. 5-d chess that is so smart, even the brightest of the deep state are left absolutely dumbfounded. Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer, classic Sun Tzu. The reason why President Trump has had so many cabinet members and close friends betray him isn't because he's a poor judge of character. He knew who would betray him, but by appointing them to positions like Secretary of Defense, Attorney General, or even Vice President, it allowed him to keep his eye on them. I don't blame you for not understanding this, it is hard to follow, but maybe you just need to trust the plan a little more.

This is what I beleive also, if Donald Trump says no - the never Trumpers will say yes which takes votes from Joe.

Trump cannot admit he was conned.

The most successful businesses hire the dumbest and most corrupt employees so they can keep an eye on them.
