IQ is generally NOT tied into educational intelligence., aka book smarts. IQ is based on how well your brain can solve puzzles. The lowering IQs in this country has more to do with environmental factors such as heavy metals in our foods, water, air, soil, and medicines, the use of vaccines that cause brain development issues, and other factors like abuse during the main development stages of the brain. This INCLUDES the use of alcohol and/or drugs while pregnant.
A person's IQ doesn't go up much from education, if any. This is why IQ tests are given to children, usually around Kindergarten thru 2nd Grade. A person's IQ is usually set by the time they turn 8, much like a person's overall personality is set by the age of 7.
IQ is heavily influenced by spatial reasoning, something that cant be learned.
Speed of thought too. If youve ever had the asfab test to get into the military you probably remember the section where you are given 30 seconds to solve 30 very simple math problems, such as 3+1 or 6-3. That is a measure of IQ.
IQ tests are age adjusted assessments on how much you’ve learned for your age. They do reflect education and mental development through education.
You are correct, they don’t test recitation of facts, but if you studied math puzzles, your brain became better at math puzzles. IQ tests will detect that.
I suspect the strong cultural and geographic differences between IQ scores has more to do with familial encouragement of study and innate resistance to impulsive behavior that pulls people away from study. Just one hour per day of study is a thousand hours every three years. That’s six thousand hours of brain development by the time we turn 18 and yes, babies can study the world around them or they can just eat and suck their thumbs.
