Put AI in charge of weapons. Has Terminator taught us nothing?
I thought every person in the country had seen "Terminator" !!!
Swarms of cheap, at least when compared to current fighters, disposable fighters/Bombers. As you no longer need to factor pilot safety/survivability into designs.
There’s been preliminary Commercial studies done on how effectively people can control and direct varying numbers of Drones with some limited AI assistance. The number capped out at about 200 at least according to the study. Before any productive work ground to a complete halt.
Stands to reason the Military would look towards applying the same concept.
I'm now thinking that we are approaching a time soon, when the media starts using catch phrases like "AI.. is there anything that it cannot do?"
But seriously, this flight control AI seems remarkable. It's probably been in the works for a while. My opinion: Like other forms of AI/Machine Learning, what it has to do is to exceed human performance as far as reducing the number of accidents/crashes, and then acceptance by the public will follow.
We need one real big solar flare carrington event...knock out the servers...fry it all...Id rather live without power than for it to keep going this way...human being factored out completely.

Uh...It means they don't have to hire a pilot AND we're ALL getting taken for a ride. A-gain.

Woke AI making decisions on who lives and dies, this should go well.
So why was there a real pilot on board?
Anyone still pushing self driving cars? What could possibly go wrong?
Plausible deniability. "OH, that naughty AI killed all those good people!"
