These amazing ships where expertly built by thousands, all dedicated to a common goal of the complete destruction and domination of any size allocated budget they face. Mission accomplished.
...howls...
The article is overwrought. It takes for granted that area denial weapons of an adversary are recent news. The fact of the matter is that the Navy was concerned about supersonic sea-skimming antiship missiles in the 1970s (that was a problem I was informed about during my work at Boeing). It is also the reason for the existence of a carrier battle group, which provides "defense in depth," multiple layers of defense.
Ain't no ship that can't be sunk.
...precisely...
They should be glad, the dollar still buys this stuff thanks to gold / silver price manipulation. Otherwise, a multiplication of 50,000/2,000 (real price/manipulated price) is in order: We are talking: 332,500,000,000.
...you are getting close to talking about "real money"...
...doggy winks...
In summary the Navy is still fighting the last war.
Though to be fair. No one knows quite precisely how new Area Denial Systems will actually work under Combat conditions. Controlled Tests are a bit different than combat conditions. And the Author cites his own articles as proof of his point which doesn’t necessarily help his point.
Much like some Russia-Ukraine War commentators. Swore the deployment of ultra-sonic Russian missiles would completely break Ukrainian/NATO resistance over a year ago. It did not. As the ongoing hostilities continue to attest to.
A Carrier and it’s Battlegroup once exposed. May prove surprisingly effective in defense against such systems. Much like other Military Weapons Systems. You don’t really know how it’ll work until it’s put through the proverbial fire.
...the problem is a matter of logistics..
...under a sustained attack from a mainline based foe, eventually the battle groups ability to defend itself would be severely compromised...
...the Zionist's "Iron Dome" was breached precisely this way....
