Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I know many here DIY their own natural deodorant, toothpaste etc. Any suggestions for either a DIY or ready to use natural shoe/foot deodorizer powder or spray?
Try rubbing alcohol. It kills bacteria so kills the smell producing critters. Rub it on for a couple days in a row then every couple days then every week or so as you go along you will need it less and less and then you won’t need any deodorant at all to smell good. Kill the bacteria and you’re done.
A great way to reduce your foot odor is change your diet. Remove all seed oils, processed food, veggies, all sugar including fruit for a time. Basically carnivore eating see Shawn Baker and Ken Berry You Tube. Do it for 60-90 days. Not hard. These are the poisons the body is trying to get rid of through the feet. Also look up herbal foot pads with tourmaline in the ingredients list. (Cheap on Amazon.) You will not “mask” the odors but completely remove them because you will pull them out every night through the feet, not recycle them. I used this method to pull vaccines out of my granddaughter’s little body after her 5 year old injections left her with severe stuttering and eye blinking and a strange shrugging of her shoulders. Chlorophyll in a green based juice was added to pull out the toxins. Took about 12 weeks. She is fine now. Why is this post so lengthy? Sharing is caring. Zeolite drops also pull heavy metals out fyi.
I'm more or less keto/carbless now with the exception of rice with lunch during the week and only use avocado and olive oils. Once the rice is gone I'll cut the carbs all together. And try harder to avoid the occasional sugar/junk food snack lol But aside from that I do simple ingredients w/no prepackaged foods. I also consume about 3 teaspoons of Himalayan salt on weekdays, and half that on weekends and typically drink at least a gallon of water a day. I've been doing that for a while now after seeing this video:
https://rumble.com/v2tti4c-hidden-truth-nicotine-toxin-or-cure-ardis-club-experience-ep.181.html
I would love to find the study he references, but I did find myself in the heat of summer last year not feeling fatigued by the heat despite walking an average of 9 miles a day at work. Title says nicotine but he delves into sodium as well.
I also just finished a CDS protocol which I try and do every few months or so. MMS was a tremendous benefit to me a couple years ago when I first heard of it and gave it a try. Coming off of a decade long run of heavy excessive drinking I had a terrible inner dialogue, after MMS it was gone. Prior to my recent CDS protocol I hadn't done it in quite some time and had been noticing unusual anxiety and doomy feelings, and now cleared up. Also with the CDS, I'd start at 4 AM, finish by 11 and did TRE/intermittent fasting and would eat at noon, 3, and 6ish. I make my own CDS by the way, after finding MMS, then CDS and hoping I could get more people to try it I bought components to DIY it.
I remember years ago seeing those patches advertised, Kanoka or something that you put on your heels overnight, this is the first I've heard of them actually doing anything. Well not them per say, but that type of thing. I'll look for some now.
I'm also curious to try hydrogenated water. I came across 144hydrogenman or something on YT a while back but the machines he peddles are way too much $$ for me. I tried one of those hydrogen cups from Amazon but have returned it shortly after, and later today am picking up a used older Lourdes hydrogen machine I found on FB MP. Nothing foot odor related, but along with other methods I've seen on podcasts I guess it oxygenates your body in rejuvenating ways.
I've tried a plethora of different things over the past 3 or 4 years with most not really doing much, but MMS/CDS has absolutely been the best find for me.
Thanks for your insight!
This is precious information. Thank you!
Sneakers are notorious for holding foot odor. When wearing sneakers, only wear clean white cotton socks. When not wearing, pour a bit of baking soda inside, beat around so entire sole is covered and let sit. Next day pour out excess and wear. Do this for a time until there is no more odor.
Thanks for that, I was just looking at the last socks I'd ordered just over a year ago, sorry to say from Amazon, and they are cottonless socks.
I'm about to switch to a new pair of shoes and will get some 100% cotton socks to wear with them!
My first husband (kids' father) when we first married had a very bad case of foot odor. His mother (who never liked me) had tried everything to get rid of it. She made him wash his feet in lysol and put his shoes outside every night. Nothing worked. In less than 2 weeks, I had it gone. He wore those colored black, brown, navy or dark green dress socks with work boots. That never made sense to me but that's what he wore. So, I had him go out and buy some white tube socks (what we had at the time) and get rid of those dress socks. Then, I took his boots and put baking soda in them every night before bed. When his mother found out I had gotten rid of it that quickly, she was furious. I think that's why she never liked me, but who cares, may she RIP.

Soaking feet in epsom salt/warm water, detoxes and pulls out the toxins that are causing both the sweat and odor cycle. The soles of the feet have the largest pores on the body.
Drying the feet, especially in between the toes after bathing is very important.
Always wear fresh, clean 100% cotton socks, unless going to the beach. Never wear shoes without fresh clean socks. Fresh clean socks every day. Avoid synthetic fabrics.
Powders, sprays et al are moot if you address the core issues as mentioned above. Be sure to bathe on a regular basis. Sounds obvious, but with the change in working at home, less interaction with people in person has led to people not bathing as often. Older people also bathe less for a number of reasons.
Good stuff, thanks! I'll have to try and start doing weekend foot soaks.
I always wear a fresh pair of socks daily, but was just looking at the most recent socks I bought just over a year ago and they have no cotton. I'll get some 100% ones to wear with my new shoes.
I've never been the biggest bather, and of late more so because I'm not a fan of dousing myself in chlorinated, fluoridated, and otherwise polluted water but depending on how active I am do at least 3 times a week, or more with heavy activity.
Foot drying is something I've never done, usually just ankles up and let the dogs air dry, but I'll give that a try too.
Thanks!
Yeah... you really have to look at the labels to find 100%. If you find 90% that's okay as the remainder is usually elastic etc. It's the polyester that's problematic... imagine wearing threads of shredded 2-liter soda bottles on your feet and expect them not to breathe...(PET is polyester BTW)
If you can't shower for whatever reason, just make it a point to do your feet until you break the cycle.
I didn't mention cycling shoes ... it's best to alternate shoes so they have a chance to air/dry out. If they're repeatedly sweat in, they never dry out and bacteria never die ..they just colonize in the shoes and you can't break the cycle. If you can't alternate shoes, get shoe/boot dryers.
I've used this in the past... looks like it's hard to find now:
Crimson Antimicrobial Guard, 8 oz. - Disinfect, Deodorize, Bacteria & Shoe Odor Eliminator, Up To 90 Days Protection https://amzn.in/d/7UyAOZU
Looking around on Amazon proved fruitless, well mostly. I came across GoWith Socks and ordered some 5 pair natural color 97% cotton, 3% elastane, and 6 pair 40% linen, 40% cotton, and 20% polyamide.
And just to hit $75 for a discount I tried a pair of alpaca socks for winter.
