For the last 10 days here in Michigan they have been warning us of a dangerous heat wave. On Sunday they put out an excessive heat warning starting Monday morning and ending Friday evening. Beginning a week ago, forecast temps for this week have been ranging from 94 to 97 and then they add in their fake feels like bullshit.
And even if it hit 94-97 all week that isnt that unusual. But it hasnt hit 90 yet.
Yesterday we had a thunderstorm in the morning and it didnt hit 80 until around 1. I got up to 83. Today we didnt have rain and by 10 am it was 80. It never got past 86. But everyone is talking about the extreme heat. WTF is wrong with these people? The average temp for June 18 is 82 freaking degrees.
It was warm today. A bit of humidity but not that bad. Out in the sun it was hot. I have worked outside for the last 40 years. This was nothing. It was a normal summer day. I am so sick of this recency bias bullshit and the weather forecasters pushing this nonsense.
BTW I have temp, wind, barometer, dew point, humidity and rainfall/snowfall logs for the last 35 years for my area of Michigan. As a concrete contractor in summer and snow removal in winter, weather plays a big part in what we can do each day. So I am a bit of a weather junkie. I have had my own weather station for those entire 35 years. I can not find any anomalies in my data showing anything other than the normal ebb and flow of the years that match up semi closely with the larger climate cycles of El Nino and La Nina.
The late 90s were pretty hot. Two or three summers with 30 or so 90+ days. Nothing like that since and the last couple years we have had only a couple days of 90+.
Heat Dome? Is that another word for "Summer Solstice"?
These next two weeks can and should be the hottest of the year due to the sun's position (not counting air mass contributions). Shocking coincidence it's hotter than hades in a lot of the country right now.
If earth is surrounded by gas, what happens as the gas rises and cools in outer space? Does it turn into ice and sink back down? What keeps the gas from disappearing? I've never understood this.
So, supposedly on the surface of the moon, since there is no atmosphere, if you are in the light, the temperature is supposed to be around 250 F or something and the moment you step into the shade it drops to like -230 F. So if there is gas on the outer part of the earth's atmosphere, and it's in the path of the sun, wouldn't that gas be lost into space? Maybe it travels some distance then cools off, then gravitational pull of earth brings chunks of ice back into proximity.
It's called summer. Happens every year. Some years hotter than others...get a grip.
They're going for the "if you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, " tactic.
And, unfortunately, there are too many without discernment who WILL- and DO - believe it.
More than that.
Remember a few years back, NASA got caught revising historical temps that were recent enough to fact check against.
Used to actually be hotter when I was a kid in the 90s as well.

Summer is here. Women, children and minorities hardest hit.
It rained today, must be global flooding.

It's kinda like heat rises, yet it is freezing cold at 40,000 feet.
That works for me.
I wonder if it briefly ices over, then stinks down gas again, all happening super fast.
kinda like water does.

Gravity. This isn't hard, flerfer.
But if it rises as a gas, what makes it stop?
