Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
"why do women like soap operas"
American ones? Not sure, they seem to never end.
Mexican and Korean ones? Longer term character focused stories with a clear plot and typically a good, resolute ending.
If you enjoy either you likely enjoy wrestling too
Great question and I wish I could answer this. I grew up watching Days of our lives and Young and the Restless. My mom always had them on so I watched. I started watching General Hospital in high school around 1982 and watched it until about three years ago. GH is the only one I watched over the last twenty years. I used to watch at least three. I only stopped watching because it kept getting interrupted by “breaking news” during the Covid plandimic. It’s always amazed me breaking news happens at the same time throughout the years. Instead of my soap I had Gov Cooper talking about Covid shutdowns. I would probably start back watching if I could catch up on the past two years. I could go online and watch Days from the beginning but ABC has GH on lockdown. It’s not a big deal I’d probably get irritated by the sorry writing. Don’t forget about nighttime soaps. Shows like Dallas, Knotts Landing, Desperate Housewives and many others had just as much drama as the daytime shows. Also it’s not just women that watch soaps.
