They don’t have televisions, but they know what’s going on in this country.
That is why they know what's going on ...
Do they use internet or radio? I don't know Amish
They use the original Social Media................They Talk & LISTEN
They eat breakfast as a family each morning around the kitchen table, they eat lunch as a family each day around the kitchen table, they eat dinner as a family each evening around the kitchen table, most of all THEY PRAY
How true.
I have Amish communities within 50 miles from where I live. We visit there twice a year for good food and products. They don’t even have electricity in their homes. They don’t drive cars, but will take a ride from us “Anglish”.
When I was on a road trip to the east coast, I saw them in their buggies.
saw a Documentary on the Amish couple years ago ,and theres different factions of the amish, hard core /no power/no gas no tractors ,only buggies/ mules Etc,and there's ones with tv/phones/ power Etc,the full gammet of lifestyles and religious beliefs.
The ones that use power are Mennonites.
One of my builders has an Amish framing crew. They have one non Amish that starts the generator and plugs in all the tools but they do use them. And they all come in one big van with the non Amish guy driving. They drive about 90 minutes each way. Cool guys, we interact with them all the time. Real jokers too.
It's cool to have so much information here. Appreciate this.
they CAN use modern technology but not own it. There are also loopholes when it comes to business.
Also for instance, they will use generators for electricity for business. They'll have cellphones in their driver's name. They'll have a van (in someone else's name) and kit it out with laptop, mobile printer, cell phone, etc. They understand computers just fine, if they need to. Around here there are a few with small engine repair business.
It all comes down to the rules for their district or whatever, the local "bishop" will dictate what is acceptable and what is not.
You can call it a cult, but when the power goes out they don't know. They are largely self sufficient with gardens, livestock, chickens, etc. Unless they are inbred, their kids are extremely healthy and strong and sharp. They work hard. All of them.
The one issue is they are taking over a nearby county. Population boom. When you have a dozen kids for generations you become a majority. They are not involved politically, they won't run for office, but they can certainly choose a Englisher candidate for local govt that supports their ideals, support him and vote for him and sway local politics.
Sort of the Muslim model.
But, I would say, they are traditional and will be supporting Trump for sure. They are going to support conservative ideals all day long and will vote when it matters, IE when they see plainly the influence of the evil left creeping into even the ultra-rural ecosystems such as the Amish communities.
Nice. I didn't even know that they vote but it's good they do.
Bull, they own cars, phones, electric power tools, etc. They have lawyers who will deny anything that goes against the storyline. They are also like Jews who believe that it is okay to lie to anyone not of their faith. The big difference is if you ask them the same question repeatedly that they lied to, they have to tell the truth by the 3rd time. You will see them squirming the 2nd time and that is their tell. Don't buy into the lie. I had to do child labor investigations into them and was fortunate to speak to a mother who "left" the religion. She sat with me for hours and detailed the hypocrisy of the Amish.
