Been through a few hurricanes here in the coastal plains of NC. Didn’t even lose power for the last one until the river was half way up my crawl space. And it still had a several more feet to go.
We weathered the winds and rain of the hurricane that hit on a Thursday only to be gobbled up by the river on Sunday.
Yea, it took my fence down in the back yard. The wind was so strong that it bent the blades of my ceiling fan on the back porch strait down. Needless to say it broke the glass globe for the light as well. Tree branches down everywhere and major flooding. The wind picked up a 50lb bench and pushed through the now missing fence into the street. We've seen much worse, but this did a lot more damage than we expected.
I'm 6 counties inland and got hit pretty hard.Wind is still howling like crazy. No real damage though, just limbs down and no power due to fallen trees.
Yes, it was only a cat 1, but it did more damage than most anticipated. Last I read was 2.6 million without power. I'm not sure they are counting my area since I'm so far north.
It'll be business as usual by Wednesday. This is Texas. The only thing is that I was hoping for it to come a bit further westerly down around the Naval Air Stations. I need a good watering. This storm is moving fast enough that it will be out of the area completely tomorrow. Remember Harvey... drunken bastard stumbled around in circles for almost a week. So now back to watch for some volatility from the north .... you know tornado "alley". And as always "God is in the rain". Without storms this old world dry up and fade away except on the water's edges. Seriously think about how much water it takes to keep this brown dirt, gray and tan rocky world so green. Crews from all over Texas are already in place to help get the grid back up and running "smoothly".
It was a Cat 1, just a heavy summer thunderstorm.
Summer thunderstorm with 85mph winds.
You have no idea what you're talking about. See my other comment.

No appreciable rain in Ohio in over a month
