She was, but only for 3 or 4 years. She was assigned to the VP protection detail when Biden was VP, and he made her director in 2022, bringing her back from Pepsi. I guess Biden knew her from back then, and probably wanted her back to sniff again or something.

I 100% agree wtf. They would have the experience in planning, positioning, and perimeter protection and likely would have led teams similar to what the USSS uses.
Die - you are correct for bodyguards, but we are talking about the leader and not the teams. They require different skillsets.
Personal security is a different animal from what most military are trained for.
Being a bodyguard for a public figure is a different skill set.
It is truly comforting that the most important people in the country are kept safe by a woman who knows how to manage security card readers to the sugar warehouse at a soda factory better than anyone else on the planet.
