I'm in no way disagreeing with you that ads make businesses money and are important to them. But you keep arguing about how great and necessary they are from a user perspective when that's just not true.
My argument is that ads are bad if they send you information that you don't care about.
How many times have you seen a Trump ad asking for donations. Most likely... that ad isn't going to annoy you as much as a none relevant ad.
Ad placement matters as well.
If someone pops up a random ad out of no where. That's a very bad customer experience and will annoy most people.
Marketing is like Dating.
No one cares if someone is hitting on them if they find the other person attractive.
As soon as that unattractive person tries to hit on them. They not annoyed and not interested.
