Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I appreciate your input, always.
I have unexplained iron deficiency so they are ruling out colon and stomach bleeding. Not all medical procedures are bunk.
What pissed me off was the doc shilling me on getting surgery to fix my GERD. Which I take an proton pump inhibitor for (which i don't want to be on one since those are trash and fuck with your absorption of nutrients and break down of food.)
Is GERD sign of not enough stomach acid?

I've heard that theory but I don't know what's true or not true anymore since the medical industrial complex is so corrupt
Research keto and carnivore diet. I was born in 67 and never heard of anyone having gluten allergies, GERD, nut allergies or anything else affected by diet. It’s got to be something in the food. I had IBS since 1993. I’m eating carnivore now and that’s straightened itself out. I was also having gluten intolerance when I ate certain processed breads. I still eat non carnivore occasionally. Going off the plan has taught me what was irritating my system.
I tried carnivore, it felt great stomach wise and i had so much energy, almost too much energy that I couldn't sleep at night, that was one of the main reasons I stopped it. How do you mange it?
First of all I have dealt with insomnia since I was a teenager. I sleep better during the day, my brother is the same way. I don’t work anymore so it’s not an issue for me. I’ve been in a pattern since my mom went to hospital several times and then passed. Don’t fall asleep till 4AM. Last night feel asleep at 9:30 and have been up since two. It’s genetic dad is 80 & still has sleep issues. He’s just started taking NyQuil to help sleep. I wouldn’t but it works for him, his mom had bad insomnia. For myself Carnivore hasn’t helped my sleep. However the experts that have been carnivore a long time say it takes time for your body to heal unless it’s too far damaged like joint damage or previous injuries. I’m not expecting my sleep to get better.
Do you eat several times a day or just before bed? Asking because this might be a reason for your sleep problems. I usually don’t eat until late afternoon till around 7. I’m a night owl so 7 isn’t late for me. I don’t remember who, one of doctors doing carnivore videos advised to eat your food in a six hour window, preferably before bed. I think it was Dr Anthony Chaffee. When I first started I ate several times a day. I eat if I’m hungry but most days can go 6-9 hours without eating. Not totally carnivore, I drink coffee in AM & then water.
Gut health and more energy has been a plus for me. Of course the energy levels depends on my sleep schedule.
Melatonin at very low dose can help you sleep. Also magnesium, there’s several forms of magnesium. Double check for the one that benefits sleep. Or you can get magnesium oil or body butter put on hip or feet before sleep. If you take too much it will detox you, start slowly.
I hop that helps.
FYI - a quick little trick to relieve acid reflux: chocolate Hagen Daz ice cream... only a couple teaspoons. Because it's processed with alkali, it quickly neutralizes the acid. It's not a cure per se... but if you're in agony, I highly recommend trying it. It works straight away. MUST be chocolate Hagen daz... nothing else is the same.
Yes...they have their uses/remedies that work, but most don't realize their success rate is only around 10% unless you're talking orthopedics/fixing bones etc.
Hope you get to the bottom of it! (The condition not the ice cream container) 😁

yeah, the surgery to fix GERD is a NO GO for me. They can introduce more problems. No thanks.!!!
