Immediate family - wife Cheryl and adult kids - did not want him to quit and join Trump. Cheryl especially does not like Trump, so today when he was giving his one hour speech that was recorded and posted to his website, he got emotional and even had some tears rolling down his face. (Go watch his video - really good.) He said it was breaking his heart to have to give up his presidential bid after all the hard work everyone did, including thousands of unpaid volunteers.
He also said his wife and kids were begging him not to do this, but he felt that he had no choice. A tear was rolling down his right cheek, later another down his left. He flicked them away and kept on speaking.
And then there are Bobby's siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews, etc. There's a group of about 60 of them that have been posting negative things about him for years, saying they do not stand by his anti-vax, anti-chemical stance. They post all the time how they think he is unbalanced and that they are not voting for him or agreeing with him on anything.
In Feb. about 50+ of them posed in a St. Paddy's day photo with Pres. Biden at the White House in a blatant back stab to Bobby who of course wasn't there and was running against him for president. Them gathering around Biden and smiling was clear comms of their support for the dementia patient rather than their own flesh and blood.
Today - Right after Bobby posted his heartfelt video on his website, and right before his introduction on stage with Trump, his sister and 4 other family members posted together on X that Bobby was a traitor who was shaming his father and uncle's legacy, etc. After they posted that, they were inundated with negative feedback and were essentially told to go F themselves by hundreds of X users.
I just found this statement from his cousin Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg's son Jack:
"Never been less surprised in my life. Been saying it for over a year — RFKjr is for sale, works for Trump. Bedfellows and loving it. Kamala Harris is for the people — the easiest decision of all time just got easier."

My thoughts: Can you imagine what kind of nastiness he puts up with on the daily from these formerly aligned family members? How demoralizing.
I saw one from his sister this morning full of as much vitriol as this one. I would never publicly shun my family whether I agreed with them or not. I love my family unconditionally and I think only crimes against children would cause me to do something like this. This public show of hate should be so transparent to the masses, I pray this kind of crap is waking people up!
That's really sad and actually raises my respect for him.
When people make sacrifices like this for their country and -- yes, even the family that treats him like shit, whether they are smart enough to understand or not -- it shows integrity.
“My husband’s opinions are not a reflection of my own,” Hines wrote on social media early that year. “While we love each other, we differ on many current issues.”
Wait, his family betrayed him?
What did I miss amongst all the news?

Thank you for explaining, I had no idea what incredible sacrifices this man was making. He will be in my prayers along with his family.

I hadn't had time to watch the speech directly yet.
That's sad.
