I have been an off and on again cyclist, not that I'm a jock or ever was, but I live in a hilly city that isn't bike friendly at all. I just can't do the gym bike thing, its boring. So I started climbing the stairs where I work every night (I'm a security Guard with time to burn) The 3 sets of stairs range from 662 steps down to 296, but all 3 total 1,516 steps.
Been doing this every workday for 5 weeks straight. First week had to stop a lot and catch my breath, and there would be gaps between stair sets of 20 min. or even a few hours. I also was taking a few 10-20 breath stops each set and a 2 min. go drink water.
Now 5 weeks later, I'm taking fewer short breath rests and no water until the entire stair is done. Today was the first day I did the steps twice! 1 set before Midnight, and the second at 3 AM, and the 3AM set I also broke my record in doing all 1,516 steps in 40 Min. So 3,032 steps in total.
Why? Because I need tha cardio, I have some health issues, and stair climbing exercises the same muscles as bike riding... Going to take my bike abroad and ride there again like the old days...
I'm off work the next 3 nights, but I plan on doing the 3032 stairs every night from now on since I see I can do it.
You're past the hardest part. From now on out, the strength you have will help you keep the pain at bay. You're probably now at the stage where your body wants protein and nourishment and you end up feeling like you're starving all the time. Eat good healthy food and that will pass.
Been working security a long time, prefer the Graveyard shift. A lot of time to do my own thing. Like GAW, and Meme Wars on Twitter. Years ago when I worked at freight depots or factories, I'd wash and wax my car weekly at work. I also played an online game then sold the game money for cash. Etc... I don't have a lot of stress, I do safe security lol.
No benefits, but lots of OT over the years. I live in a city where 17 bucks an hour is the norm, a lot better than Florida paid when I lived there.
Thanks to whoever deported my troll. What a butt head, 0 posts o comments, joined 3 days ago, and it will now have to make a new troll account lol. I don't get butthurt over trolls...

Sage advice TY!
Enjoy your well deserved R & R..
That’s awesome, keep going!
Security work is surprisingly listed among the most stressful types of job, and you're going directly against that trend! Well done anon
Gettin' paid to get toned and tight - if ya gotta work the graveyard shift, might as well postpone the actual graveyard as long as possible!
