WHY ISN'T REVENGE A HUMAN RIGHT?

When done humanely it's called justice. Humane in this case means preventing ourselves, the good guys, from sacrificing the better parts our soul to hate, while doing our best to make sure that evil cannot continue. The need for real justice is why America still has the death penalty.
It's all about the connotation of the word, and the mental state of the one performing the action. Retribution and justice imply the integrity of the one exacting the justice is maintained. Revenge implies that the person has succumbed to an evil impulse in their heart, even if the material result is the same for the criminal.
Maybe you didn't want such a long answer, but the question can't really be answered without defining the word first. If you have a different definition of revenge you'll get different answers.
Excellent, intelligent response.
My feeling is that when perpetrated in the heat of the moment (e.g., you just came home and discovered someone in the midst of doing evil to your family members), then revenge is nature's / God's way of empowering a person (or even a dog) to stop on-going assault and to prevent future crimes by the evil-doer.
It's a natural response and one with a positive purpose, which is why juries often see it as a mitigating factor.
Two minutes later, it's another story.
Good job, Mr. A!
Because God reserved vengeance for himself.
Yes, but God also commands people, shortly after the 10 commandments, to put to death people who commit first degree murder or human trafficking.
"Whoever strikes and kills a man must surely be put to death. If, however, he did not lie in wait, but God allowed it to happen, then I will appoint for you a place where he may flee. But if a man schemes and acts willfully against his neighbor to kill him, you must take him away from My altar to be put to death. Whoever strikes his father or mother must surely be put to death. Whoever kidnaps another man must be put to death, whether he sells him or the man is found in his possession." - Exodus 21
We have to make sure we differentiate between between justice and vengeance.
One trick I believe the deep state loves is to lie and call the justice God told people to carry out "vengeance", which is a separate thing.
There is only man's decision involved in justice killings. God has spoken in the new testament and vengence is His while it is still man's day.
Because dueling was outlawed in 1859.
Broderick-Terry
Because vengeance is for the lord alone.
Because God says it's His. Period.
Uncle Fester doing charts now? 🤔😁😂
It is interesting to consider the following:
A thing is a challenge at law among the tribes around the North Sea basin. / East Sea Basin.
What was discussed there was the pro-ject: vor wurf.
One could call for a stand-in: a champion. Such a person would move towards to call: ad-vocat.
That said: In the Frysian Law of 800: duelling was not outlawed, but it was now established that those having a quarrel, go to the local priest (instead of their thingere) and call it a day: TAG or TAGUNG or DAG, which is the root of dagen, meaning: to challenge.
It is to be taken into account that witnesses were the main cause of proof. These days proof is about papertrails and what not.
As you can see: the current legal process bears a lot of analogy to them days long gone.
So why is revenge outlawed? Because the government does that for you. And they will be very unhappy and insulted if you ever disregard their primacy in the revenge department.
However, if you go and make a complaint, to dote upon them the right to action, forgoing the pleasure of satisfaction.
It has been socialized: the people vs. accused.
It also pertains to the issue of accused. IF you cannot proof beyond a reasonable doubt that the suspect has indeed done the deeds you think he/she did, then ... you would be wrong. So, the .gov does it for you ... and is even more abysmal at that job.
The only reason they get the conviction rate up, is because of deals ....
The chance of dying in a revenge case would eliminate quite a lot of homies. It would also decrease crime.
Is it humane? There are two dimensions to it: 1.to make you whole 2.to protect society from perpetrators.
.gov' s job is abysmal at both.
