Don't mean to sound like an asshole (although I certainly am one) but I'm not out here giving links to "my patriot supply" or shit like that.
I made a post listing the most dirt cheap way to gather (10) days worth of food and water for (3) adults for <$130 from your local grocery store, etc. complete with prices, calorie, protein, fat, counts etc and all that bullshit.

I'm harping on this repeatedly more than anyone here for the simple reason that it is everyone's responsibility to be their brothers' keeper. You could spend $30 a week from your next paycheck and maybe save your families life. Hell, if you don't have ANY income, you could go "fly a sign" at an intersection somewhere for an hour or two and then walk directly to Walmart and buy a 20 pound bag of rice and 10 gallons of water for about $25. If you soak rice in water long enough, it's relatively edible. This is completely doable regardless of your situation.
Hey maybe nothing will happen at all. I hope nothing does and you all laugh at me in a few months. I hope.
Where I live, during winter months we sometimes get cut off from the supply line b/c they close the interstate. One year it was closed for close to two weeks. So shelves ran bare. Pharmacies were doling out prescriptions two days worth of meds at a time.
I've always been a mini prepper so I was fine but neighbors freaked out. So, hopefully people will follow your advice.
Yeah, 2 weeks is just good sense. Earthquakes can damage roads that interrupt supply chain, for example. It's silly not to have a cushion.
If serious stuff hits the fan, it will just be a bit of a net while you adjust to the new normal.
Q88 on the QClock points to Sep-29 and Oct-29 (180°) of this year.
But don't worry, the fun starts much sooner... within the next 10 days.
The next plague is about to rear its head, this one will be far is scarier for some.
Sep-16 is a huge day to remember.

Ten days. Darkness.
Maybe a couple of days before the election.

To keep the grid down for 6 mths would be global suicide.
