Trump said the illegals will go back home on their own. They will gladly go home. This makes me think that he might enact some sort of law saying that if you are an illegal and get caught by the military.....you might have to appear in front of a tribunal and as such what would be the penalty? What is the punishment for an enemy combatant who raises up arms against the American military? Could it be the death penalty? That would be a great incentive to have the illegals self deport.
You can get a lot to go home on their own just by ending the free flow of money from the US to Mexico through Western Union.
I work in the trades and they are full of south of the border types, many of them illegal. They get paid cash and then send it to their families. No income tax paid. Straight cash.
End this and the reason for a large percentage (of those that work) for being here, also ends.
Bingo! I would couple this with a sizeable (to them) cash reward for voluntarily leaving and going home to make that country great. Enough to get set up if they don't blow it. But nothing if they don't leave voluntarily, and still gotta leave. So their choice is leave with a pile of dough, or leave with nothing. Also extra $5,000 for each additional illegal you nark out to ICE who gets removed. This is enormous money to these people, in their shithole countries where they belong. If they're criminals, gang members, etc., they either get dumped in the ocean or flung out of an airplane in their country if they park jetliners in the runways to prevent landing. (OK that one is tongue in cheek but I like it. :) Finally, allow noncitizens to sue employers for paying less than minimum wage.
Strange how deserted the contractor's entrance at Home Depot suddenly would look at 7 am...
IMHO this should be way cheaper to enact than many other forms of repatriation.
Bye-bye Pedro, Chang, and Abdul
If you want to bribe them with your own cash, go right ahead. But as a taxpayer, I prefer my public servants, the ICE agents, whom I pay already, to scoop them up as rapidly and conspicuously as possible and extradite with expedience. Make it obvious that it would be preferable to leave while still under the radar, rather than get caught up in the vacuum cleaner. No rewards for ceasing to do what they should never have been doing.
