Are You Interested in Ever Being Involved in Politics Directly?
🤜 FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! 🤛
By that I mean running for office or seeking a political appointment.
Post for the late night crew / early birds
While my nature makes me hate anything to do with politics and hence always shied away from running for any office of any kind all my life, I have come to realise that if we want to keep ourselves free, all the good patriots should take part in politics at some level or another. So post-awakening, in the Free World, I am thinking of getting involved in politics. Main goal is to make sure the world remains free, and to keep waking up anyone around me who might start dozing off.
Man, I don’t like me enough on a daily basis, I can’t ask others to do it.
There’s no accounting for my wife and kids. They just have poor judgment.
kids don't get to pick.... ;)
have thought about it a few times. After you put your name in the hat your life changes. You are attacked from every angle. You have no more private life. If you are an honest hard working guy or lady that would honestly work your ass off for the betterment of your constituents you have a target on your back and marked for death. You need to be damn near a millionaire already before you get to the party. The upper echelon of the party will milk you like a cow and dictate what you will do. If you win welcome to the party pal but this is what you are going to do. If you loose you are personally worse off than before. So i sit down and ask myself is it worth it? there is to much big dirty money and to much corruption in the system all the way from the bottom up.I could not justify saying anything just to get elected but if they knew my true intentions i would be done before i start. Not because of the people to serve but to the corrupt machinery that is politics............
I couldn't. My skin is too thin. I couldn't take the underhanded dealings, the attacks, corruption and blackmail that would go along with it.
Years ago, a good friend of mine who was a real stand-up guy and a straight arrow attorney was being encouraged to run as a judge, as there were some positions opening up. At the time, being a judge was a really prestigious, high-paying job with great benefits. He was the right age and had a completely blemish-free reputation.
His response was, "No thanks." When asked why, he responded, "Because then I'll have to join the 'Secret Handshake Club' and if I don't, they'll threaten me or my family, and if I still don't cave, they'll try to dig up something terrible about me and when they don't find anything, they'll manufacture something even worse and career-ending and ruin me."
I didn't quite get it then, but I sure do now. I mean, look what they did to Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh. Who can survive that?
That’s a hard no for me.
I witnessed an act of political corruption at the age of seventeen, nearly sixty years ago. I sat with my father in the office of a US congressman who solicited my father for a bribe to perform a statutory act on my behalf.
It was the beginning of my awakening.
I won't run for office but I would volunteer my services to the rigt candidate in my area. I have too "colorful" of a background I've worked long and hard to get beyond to just run for politics and have it all dredged up again.
Me too, fren, me too.
Yes
That's the goal. Hard to get past the local GOP though.
Yeah, no
I used to want to run, but with all of the corruption and threats, I cannot imagine running for office. I would like to work in government with a Trump return, state department , interior, white house fellowship (I think pipe lines are needed to transport oil and gas, and why not water from wet regions to dry regions, but I think we have enough materials so that we can build around native American lands).
