Looks like CNN's new owner has been making changes...
Who bought CNN?
From a leftist Vox article
Thx..
Few real execs want to pilot something into the ground. That is the job of a puppet.
I don't remember, it was someone I had never heard of, but he said (as they always do) he was going to change things... :)
CNN was part of Turner Broadcasting. Time Warner sold it off to ATT (John Stankey) who destroyed the whole company in a similar manner to his destruction of DirecTV. When the board and large stockholders realized how bad the deal had been, they demanded action. Stankey got a promotion instead of being fired. He met up with Zaslav who was also failing at Discovery. They did a deal where ATT spun off Warner Bros (studios, HBO, Turner Broadcasting, CNN) and then it merged with Discovery to form Warner Bros Discovery. Zaslav, whose biggest success had been Shark Week, was put in charge of the larger company (Warner Bros). The company has continued in a downward spiral. And DEI became a big priority.
I have friends who worked there….It used to have a great culture with good benefits and employee events. Now it’s not a happy place.
From Wiki:
Interesting that Wiki does not mention Stankey's ethnicity or religion, but I found this:
