I’m in Northdale Tampa. So far worst storm I’ve been through. Power out since 8:30. I noticed some of my fence is down, then a tree fell on another portion. I can’t see anything else outside since it’s dark but it’s been crazy windy and lots of rain. Frogs are so loud- very comforting sound. It seems to be dying down now.

In Rotonda West near Englewood. Windy, gusty but very little rain on our side. Hatches still battened Pups drugged so they sleep thru it. A couple more hours and things should calm.
Praying of others not as fortunate as we are at this time.

We dosed our dogs for Helene but did not last night since it wasn't going to be too bad here in N FL... big mistake, our poor 12yo boxer/pit mix was so stressed out all night, no one slept :/ The other 2 dogs were ok, but every time the old guy would get up they would also get up and look around. And the winds were not even that bad this time, probably 20-30 with higher gusts - no where near Helene's winds for us.

Hope you and the pups faired well!

We finally heard from my cousin near Asheville. She lives on a mountain and while everything is destroyed her and the family are all alive and ok.

My dads brother and his family all live in or near Port Charlotte and Sarasota. After having survived Ian (my mom was visiting there at the time) they all left for the interior a few days ago. One cousin though is a firefighter in the area and had to stay. We will be awaiting word from him all day.

So everyone understands how rare this hurricane forming in the Bay of Campeche is, the last time it happened was in 1867.

Just heard from my firefighter cousin and everyones all good.

His insane brother and his son flew in from California and stayed at another cousins house in Punta Gorda because he wanted to ride out a hurricane. Thats the house my mom and aunt had to flee from just before Ian came onshore. I dont know how high the house is above sea level but the house mom and aunt went to is only 12 miles inland and 21 feet above sea level so its obviously lower and closer to the water. Bills always had a screw loose.

I heard from a cousin in western Norh Carolina yesterday after no way to get word that she and 2 other cousin families were all right. They have no phone service at home, landline and cell, and electricity won’t be on for another couple months. But due to benevolent people they each have a generator to run refrigerator and freezer and have all supplies they need and the road has been cleared so they can get out for medicines they needed. Praise the Lord!!!!

I was hit by Helene. Had a tree on the roof, luckily minor damage and both vehicles damaged on only minor. The wife and I are safe we went three days without water and seven without power. We are good compared to what we are seeing in North Carolina. Never saw a FEMA person anywhere! Locals and National Guard helping each other.

The Free Family, here in Volusia County is good to go. Boarded the house up, generator ready to go, supplies for days. Thankfully, we still have power. About 4-8 inches of water over my yard, but no house flooding. A couple trees down in my back yard but nothing threatening the house. Septic system and drain field is holding up and doing it's job...so far. Debris everywhere. Still have winds about 65 mph with gusts about 75+.

Can't get in touch with my aunt and cousins who live in Bradenton area, though. Knowing my aunt, she got everyone together and evacuated in time, so we're not too worried, but I will continue trying until I hear her voice. I'll keep y'all posted.

Stay safe, we still have a few more hours of this. The back side wind field is still expansive so we'll still have low level Tropical Storm force winds into the mid morning.

Western NC here.

6 days without power. No damage to the home. Sent the wife to the beach during the storm and outtage so she avoided it altogether. The kids were well enough as the town we live in came through okay. Grocery stores and restuerants were only down for a day or two in town but it took a while to get things back up and running out in the sticks. We're fine and I had my feet under me enough to go do volunteer work for the community. Lucky. Blessed. Still had coworkers without power up til yesterday.

Took pretty much a direct hit just north of Bradenton. Everyone safe, but lots of damage. Trees and power lines down, lots of roads still closed.

Might leave the shutters up for hurricane Nadine that's supposed to be here next week.

We are a little north of Gainesville.... We were really lucky this time, it is windy and had some TS force gusts, but never lost power, got 2-3" of rain. We will see this morning if there is any damage, but so far everything looks good.

With Helene, we lost power for 5 days and had numerous trees down, some on fences. The top out of 1 tree snapped off and just grazed the chicken pen - thank goodness. Our house on the Gulf had 7' of water in the bottom - but it is on stilts, so designed for that, but the garage and screened porch are still a mess, filled with mud... and we are missing some soffit in a few places and some damage to some siding. Overall very lucky, the homes on both sides are total loses I think, they were built just a few feet off the ground :/

God kept us in the eye of the storm (figuratively). My poor neighbors got hit hard. Trees down on houses and all. My neighbor across the street said I'm missing a couple pieces.of siding as far as she can tell thats it. I bugged out to the east coast at my daughters. Slept in our camper in the drive way. I slept through it. Rained hard, blew a bot from the looks of it and left some big puddles in the streets that are slowly draining. God is good.
