I’m probably the black sheep here but as someone who has student loans I don’t think we should pay them back. And it’s not because of a “well why am I responsible for it.” It’s the fact that everyone is in agreement that this is a whole scam. Take a bunch of 18 year olds in public school (where most don’t teach financial literacy anymore) tell them that the only way they’ll have a prosperous life is if they take out 5-6 digit loans out that they don’y have to pay back “right now”. So who cares. Then convince them to take the stupidest degrees with the promise of happiness and fulfillment.

No one is talking about mortgage/rent forgiveness. No one is talking about car loan forgiveness or business loan forgiveness. I know that my car loan is a 5 year term loan and after 5 years, even with interest, the loan will be paid off. You have people here paying their student loans off 13-14 years and it looks lile the balance is higher than when they started paying. The fact of the matter is if anyone wants to solve the education problem in the US a very ugly part of that is going to be how loans are distributed and handled and what to do with the “victims” of a obvious ploy to defraud the public.

It’s literally the US government defrauding people out of money the government knows damn well these people will never be able to pay back.

They should pay off student loans imo. Education should be free in America. It shouldn’t cost 125k to be a school teacher, than only clears 38k a year. Plus, I’d rather pay off our students loans than send more billions to Ukraine so they can build park benches and feed the deepstate.

The only loaers will be the predatory banks when they collapse. Dont kid yourself, not many of those loans has ever been repaid. I do t have any but I'd be ok if ALL of them got wiped out.

Student loans need to be put back on to the list of items that can be declared in bankruptcy. The only reason they are not is to ensure debt slavery.

A person taking out any loan should be required to pay it back in installments.. Most houses it is up to 10yrs of payments. The bigger the loan, the more the payments and time allowed to pay it back.. That being said, IMO, the price of college is a complete RIP OFF so, would rather punish the CROOKS that scammed people that the young people that got scammed. I do NOT want to have to pay off their loans but, I think that the CROOKs should be required to give them all a discount off what they owe... Then again, they did not have to take out a loan to go, it was their choice, maybe not a well informed choice but, a choice. I mean, at 18/19 I had no real world experience yet and didnt get any until I moved out of the house and got my first apartment and job and juggled my own bills for a bit.. HS level education SHOULD prepare kids better for that kind of shittery. heh heh heh
