I think the reason people think it's "amazing" is because Trump did a 180 on the whole "no early voting, no mail in ballots, only day of, in-person voting" stance. So now his supporters have done a 180 as well.
And I'm not sure why dems would be alarmed. It's not like the early voters weren't going to vote for Trump anyway.
I've also seen people say that so many people going in to vote early (even Trump voters) will ultimately benefit the democrats because it will reduce the number of voters lining up to vote on election day. So people who might not have had the time and/or patience to stand in long lines to vote will now have shorter wait times.
One of the best thing about Republicans/conservatives is our dedication to making our voice heard by casting our votes. Liberals are notorious for being too lazy or just too uninterested to bother.
I'm afraid that people are going to become really complacent after reading stories like this, thinking that it's already won.

Assuming they're going by 2020's playbook, it screws up their 4am ballot dump plan. If the vote is already at 100% prior to 4am, how will they explain all the extra manufactured votes they come up with? My guess, anyway.
Why would they pull the same con twice, though? They would have to know that people would really be paying attention to that type of thing. It's not like they have a shortage of tricks up their sleeves.
