How do we tackle the issue of labor on farms going forward? I know the obvious answer is hire Americans but who do we hire? Was the migrant worker program used to push good Americans out of that job market thru H-2A visas? Sorry for all the questions I’m just genuinely interested about how we fix this.
Wow never thought of the weaponizing of the dollar, exactly why I come here. I honestly think a decentralized approach like you’re saying is the way out. Smaller farms, better prices to incentivize those who wish to farm to have a reason to jump in. I know from personal experience buying land to start is the biggest hurdle it’s ultra competitive especially when you have to go against housing developers. I’m praying for some sort of farmland preservation program of sorts kind of locking land in and making sure small farmers have a chance. I really appreciate your input you got my smooth brain to jog a bit.
Happy to help, I love the thoughts that come about from this discussion.
I've thought about farming and food production a lot.
Look at a place like Ireland on Google maps. The entire place is farm land. Every sq foot of the country is farming. Surely they would be under an abundance?
Google says "Ireland is A small island of 7 Million people - that produces enough food to feed 45 Million.
Now look at a place like Eastern Canada. Where are the farms? Is it really cheaper to have almost none rather than commit some land to growing?
I think the revolution in Canada will be bigger than people think, once the Canadians get control over their own land and resources, the place will be booming.
Praying for that for you brother. That’s an insane stat about Ireland. I know it wasn’t that long ago relatively that everyone here and in Canada farmed or at least had family farming. It’s evil how these elites coerced everyone to move to cities for work during the Great Depression. Something tells me this was all orchestrated. to control the food is to control the people! And start small brother backyard garden style. Chickens for eggs and the chicken litter is the best fertilizer out there. I hope you follow thru with some sort of independent food production even if it’s just for you and your neighbors. We have to be the revolution we want to see!! Much love from the states fren!
I’ve always thought a temporary farm work program for our own youth would be valuable to instill a good work ethic. That combined with the new high tech implements/ tractors and we could probably eliminate 75% of imported farm workers.
Heck yes brother, it should be pushed in the inner cities. We need to teach the youth there where the food comes from and how it’s produced, bridge the gap between rural and urban and further unite this country. Sad thing is I can’t hardly find high school kids to help bale hay or straw around here. It could just be my area of the nation idk. Also check out all the autosteer tech we have now I think really soon we can automate everything running smaller equipment 24 hours a day with AI to monitor everything. I just fuel em up!
Our youth need to be properly incentivized again for their own benefit in the short term and for our country in the long run. It can definitely be done.
Migrant workers have been a "thing" in the US on farms for over 50 years.
There's absolutely NO MONEY in farming unless you're subsidized - which is bs.
There's no margins to hire Americans at or above minimum wage
There's a labor shortage for farm help and most don't want to work, especially at low pay and no bennies
Before anyone jumps on my shit, I've lived on and worked on farms my entire life. You have to love it... because you ain't getting rich and better know how to work the land, care for animals, turn wrenches, weld/fabricate and do damned near anything with next to nothing.
Rotary club is a masonic rest home.
Older member join it,and quit attending masonic meetings.
That what my grandfather did.
In New York they can find them illegals at a gas station for labor
I believe they are killing the city of Hattiesburg MS, intentionally or not.

I think once individuals can tend the land themselves, there will be an abundance of food.
Add in technology. I know people that make a good living selling blueberries, and apples in Canada.
If prices go up slightly and the farmers see the profits, they wont mind picking some fruits and tending the garden.
But also I dont really know if I give you a answer worth believing in. What do you think? Maybe theyll have to continue on a more monitored approach?
Are they only here for the Dollar disparity between other currencies? Weaponizing of the dollar?
