I'd bet a few bucks that Gaetz will be appointed to fill Rubio's seat in the Senate by DeSantis. Gaetz' district is a safe republican seat in a special election and GOP would still have a majority in the House if for some strange reason the dems were able to steal his seat away.
This makes sense as to why Gaetz immediately resigned his congressional seat.

It's possible. Hillary setup shop in NY so she could be appointed, um, campaign for a senate seat.
I also recall that SNL comic Al Frankenstein did the same thing in Minnesota.
So there is precedent.
DeSantis is Not going to appoint someone that just dropped out of the AG race because of alleged sexual indiscretions to a Senate seat. Not going to happen
The charges were not pursued. A person is innocent until PROVEN guilty.
