Why would someone have their child in a Government School?
Your child does not do 8 hours of work. They do maybe 2 hours. The rest of the time you're sending them to a daycare. At that daycare they repeat Government driven narratives that amount to brainwashing.
Can't afford it? So your child can afford the decades of unweaving the bran washing?
Don't have the time? Do you know how many years it will take your child to recover from the brainwashing? Could be permanent.
Don't know where to get information? Bullshit, you're here aren't you?

I read something recently (was it on GAW or no?) ... where I think it was some home school parents found that they could teach all K-5 math to 6-year olds in just 6 weeks, with 1 hour of teaching per day.
THAT is how horrible public schools are.
I also remember years ago that a friend of a friend was trying to sell their foreign language program to schools. The program could get students fluent in any language within a few months. But no schools would buy it.
This is the biggest problem with leftists and big government R's -- basically, anyone who worships government.
They have grandiose ideas of how to spend YOUR money, but they NEVER look at the RESULTS they get (or don't get) ... AND they don't give a damn about the results.

Not surprising.
If they can do this with foreign languages, just think what they could do with any other subject - like math, as u/Gertrude17 pointed out.
Just think of how many communist teachers would be forced into the unemployment line!!!
It's the same idea as why they've sat on the cures for various diseases - esp. cancer - there's no profit in a cure.
LOTS of profit in millions / billions of sick people who need your drugs to survive.....
It's fairly accepted, and proven out by the hundreds of thousands of homeschool families, that you only need one hour of book work on average per day at first grade. Add 15-20 min/day for each year afterwards. The time obviously doesn't need to be continuous- sometimes an enthused kid will do all their math for the week in one day, or their geography or reading etc. That just confirms their brain and that curriculum get along great at that moment, thank God for those moments!
But yes, they can play (NOT ON THE COMPUTER) or build, deep dive into anything they're interested in, help their parents around the house, read or draw, start some plantings or pets or chickens or make something for fun and profit etc. Set some time up to watch historical videos, religious channels, music or art appreciation, language, get creative and expand everyone's horizons. How It's Made, Modern Marvels and other educational but fun programs are out there free, along with exercise programs! Training in martial arts, general fitness, and hey, we recently realized that the Presidential fitness programs were really good and kids (and adults) should be training to these goals!

What are your thoughts on Montessori schools?
