Good heavens, that sounds like something straight out of Kurt Schlichter's recently published novel The Attack, where he postulates an America already invaded by thousands of sleeper cells of jihadists, who then start a three day long bloodbath. A rather grim novel, told in a style of a reporter collecting reminiscences of people who experienced the thing some years after the event.
One part of the story is that those jihadists imported their guns, AK-47s, and the ammo, with the help of the cartels - which didn't know what they would be used for, just cared that they got paid well.

He is a good writer, BTW. While scary, and some of those chapters tell pretty disturbing stories, even if imaginary you know they are something would happen for real in that kind of situations, that novel is a page turner.
And we are not even on the list for mass deportations. You would think since the cartel is literally running our state, that something would be done about the hobgoblin running it.
