It was just a matter of time. And The People didn't have the vote like we do today. That's th major difference between ancient Rome and modern day United States. WE have a voice, while the people of Rome did not.
Full empire is what gets me. If we stick with the constitution and the founders ideals, then that shouldn't happen. Spreading US style gov't around the world is another story. I could see a 1 world gov't happening based on those same principles later if it did spread worldwide. That would be the best of all outcomes IMHO.
Keep in mind, back in my senior year of high school during the 2012 republican primary, I remember asking in my political science class why not let Trump run for president and I got laughed at.

So at the end of the 4 year term, Republicans would have the candidate with the most experience and partly responsible for the golden age that we have entered.
